God –
I admit I’ve not always been interested in you
Or in your story
Or in your plans and tendencies for me.
I have too little imagination to rightly understand
All that you’ve done
And all that you’re prepared to do
To teach me what it means to be human.
But I want to change.
I want to live differently now.
I want to embrace your authority,
Choosing to obey you and to live with your protection.
I choose to serve you,
Living in your Presence – a worshipper.
I acknowledge that I am Yours –
Your (wo)man,
And that I have been made to love and to live
As Your shadow in this world.
Help me to do that better.
Amen.
